Landscapes
The landscape played an important role in my childhood. My siblings and I were always out exploring the woods around our house and later I worked summers as a backpacking guide in the Sangre de Christo mountains in New Mexico. Most of my adult life has been spent in the city, however, and while urbanity has definitely consumed the bulk of my artistic attention and excitement, I have had the occasional opportunity to re-immerse myself in the natural world. I’ve been happy to have been in residency at the Hudson River Fellowship for a month in the Catskills, the Dune Shack Residency in Cape Cod, and a self-created residency in Wisconsin in the middle of winter. The work here was produced on those trips.
