My first foray into YouTube land, this is a excerpt from a lecture on drawing the head and features where I took on the challenge of a five-minute “gesture” drawing of the head of the model and talked through my thought process as I went along. Enjoy!

This illustration for SYREN’s next show in February just got published! The piece “Red and Blue, Bitter and Sweet” is inspired by the existential implications of some of the theories of quantum physics, including duality, relativity and entanglement.
The title was inspired by this quote by Erwin Schrodinger:
“The scientific picture gives us a lot of factual information, puts all of our experience in a magnificently consistent order, but it is ghastly silent about all that is really near to our heart that really matters to us. It cannot tell us a word about red and blue, bitter and sweet..”
I pulled in some of the equations that form the basis of quantum physics in my design as well as the lovely entangled choreography of Kate Mehan and dancers Darcie Perkins and Rivkins Christopher.
Come see the show! February 9, 10, 11 2017 at Gibney Dance in NYC.
Illustration in white chalk on black paper.
*We might be doing a nice print edition of this. Contact me if you’re interested!
I’ve got new work in a show in New Haven! Come see a suite of new New Haven cityscapes at The Grove in New Haven.

The show runs through January 10.
I’m super excited to be participating in New Haven’s 19th annual City Wide Open Studios again this year. Last year was a huge success-my studio was busy with visitors all weekend This year the Erector Square weekend is scheduled for October 29-30, 2016. Mark your calendars and stop by my studio to get a peek at new works in progress.
My studio is located in Erector Square, 315 Peck Street, New Haven, CT.
Go to Building #5, Third Floor, Studio A.
Winter classes are in full swing! The third quarter for my classes at the National Academy in NYC began January 30! Sign up for “Anatomy For Artists” or Drawing Spaces on the NA’s website, nationalacademy.org.
My private classes at Erector Square are taught every Tuesday night with registration by the month. Contact me directly to sign up. Be aware that because it’s a small-group class with a lot of personal attention space is limited and the class can fill quickly.
I’m happy to introduce my new website! This new design features a reorganized portfolio gallery, larger images, and a new news blog- all presented in a responsive and mobile-friendly custom WordPress theme. Enjoy!
If you like what you see you can contact me about purchasing artwork, commissions, or taking a class…and if you like the site itself keep me in mind for your next web project. I also do freelance WordPress theme design and development!
